Ukrainian troops raise flag near occupied Oleshky on left bank of Kherson region
The AFU troops raised the Ukrainian flag on the Dnipro River's left bank in the Kherson region, occupied since the 2022 invasion.
The left bank endured Russia's regime and the aftermath of the Kakhovka dam explosion, which drowned hundreds of settlements and left many civilians helpless.
A video posted by the President's Office shows a flagpole with a Ukrainian trident on it and troops raising the flag on one of the buildings of the garden cooperative.
Kherson telegram channels previously published this video. Ukrainian servicemen Andriy and Ivan raised the flag on one of the buildings near the temporarily occupied Oleshky.
The soldiers wanted to "make it clear to Russians that they had invaded Ukrainian land, which would be liberated."
To install the flag, Ukrainian troops crossed the torn Antonivka Bridge connecting two banks of the Dnipro River, which was destroyed during Kherson's liberation in the autumn of 2022.
