Ukraine to evacuate children from two font-line areas in Zaporizhzhia region
On Monday, the Ukrainian authorities announced the mandatory evacuation of children from the Vasylivka and Polohy districts of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk stated this on the air of the national telethon, Rubryka reports.
"We'll have a meeting of the evacuation headquarters today, where the mandatory evacuation of children from two districts of Zaporizhzhia region — Vasylivka and Polohy — will be announced. We have to evacuate five settlements, 54 children," said Vereshchuk.
According to her, the compulsory evacuation of children is currently taking place in the Vovchansk community of the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region. In addition, 89 children are still left in Donetsk region and need to be taken to a safer place.
The deputy prime minister explained that the regions where mandatory evacuation must be announced were determined by the local administration and the Defense Council, making the necessary decisions and appealing to the government. Then the evacuation process starts.
She assured that Ukraine now had a mechanism for evacuating citizens, and there were clear action algorithms and communication with international partners and volunteers. "There are necessary regulations. They are working," Vereshchuk assured.
As reported, mandatory evacuation from the Donetsk region will be carried out from August 2022. More than 87,000 citizens moved to safe regions in 1 year. Among them are more than 10,700 children and more than 3,700 people with reduced mobility.
