Russia has deployed 100,000 troops to Lyman-Kupiansk front – Ukraine's armed forces
On the Lyman and Kupiansk fronts, the Russian invaders keep about 100,000 troops, and the number of enemy attacks has also increased significantly.
The head of the press service of the Eastern group of troops, Illia Yevlash, announced this on the air of the telethon.
"On the Lyman-Kupiansk front, the enemy has significantly increased the number of its attacks; for example, as of August 26, it has carried out 620 attacks on the positions of our defenders and carried out 15 airstrikes...
In general, if you look at the entire front [Lyman-Kupiansk – ed.], there are about 100,000 Russian servicemen," said the representative of the Eastern Group.
Yevlash clarified that:
- There are 45,000 Russian invaders on the Kupiansk front,
- On the Lyman front – 48 thousand occupation troops.
It should be noted that previously, British intelligence assumed that the Russian command would intensify its offensive in the Kupiansk and Lyman areas in the coming months.
For reference:
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar reported that the situation on the Kupiansk front is difficult: the Russian invaders want to regain the positions they lost last fall and distract our forces from a successful offensive on the Bakhmut front.
In addition, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, visited the Kupiansk and Lyman areas to think over a plan for further advancement and defense together with the commanders of these areas.
"After a month of fierce battles and significant losses suffered on the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, the enemy is regrouping its forces and means, simultaneously transferring newly formed brigades and divisions from the territory of the Russian Federation.
These measures aim to increase combat potential and resume active offensive operations. At the same time, the enemy continues to conduct powerful fire from artillery and mortars and actively uses aviation," Syrsky said.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian military has been conducting a counteroffensive on the front in Ukraine for more than two months. During this time, it was possible to liberate several settlements in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions and part of the territory that had been occupied since 2014.
