On the night of August 27, a large-scale air alert sounded throughout the country. Russia launched cruise missiles in the direction of the capital, and air defense forces shot down all enemy targets.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported on the work of air defense in the Kyiv region.

"Air defense is working on the approaches to Kyiv," it was noted there.

Later, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the Russians fired Kh-101/555/55 cruise missiles from the Tu-95MS strategic aircraft at night from the Caspian Sea region.

"Enemy targets moving in the direction of Kyiv were destroyed by the forces and means of air defense. According to the data, there are no victims or destruction in Kyiv," the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.

In addition, it added that "the Air Force will publish official information on the number and types of downed air targets after the data has been compiled."

Ihor Taburets, the head of the Cherkasy region, also reported that the air defense was working in the region during the large-scale air alert due to the missile threat.

"Increased danger. Air defense is operating in the region," he wrote.

Local media reported the sounds of explosions in the region. They may be the result of anti-aircraft fire against enemy air targets.

For reference:

It should be noted that the Russian military is trying to find new tactics for attacks on Ukraine to bypass Ukraine's air defense systems.

So, on August 25, the occupiers first launched Kalibr missiles from the Sea of Azov.

At first, the occupiers used tactical aviation – they fired two Kh-35 missiles from Su-35 fighters in the direction of one of the ports of the Odesa region. At the same time, the rockets were destroyed by the air defense forces.

A few hours later, the invaders attacked the Odesa region with two Kalibr missiles from a missile carrier in the Sea of Azov. The Ukrainian military also destroyed them.
