Ukrainian sappers have destroyed over 94,000 Russian mines in Kherson region since its liberation

Ukrainian sappers have already destroyed over 94,000 Russian explosive devices in the liberated Kherson region, while the other bank remains occupied and excessively mined, local authorities report.

Sappers surveyed 77,014 hectares of territory, of which 65,270 are farmlands.

Over the past week, Ukrainian combat sappers surveyed and cleared over 157 hectares of agricultural land, finding explosive hazards. They seized and defused 1792 Russian explosive devices.

Since the start of the all-out war, Ukrainian demining groups have cleared over 6888 hectares of agricultural land and about 330 km of roads, removing and destroying over 110,000 explosive devices.

Ukraine's Ministry of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko called on representatives of the diplomatic missions to help Ukraine achieve its ambitious goal of demining 80% of mined areas in 10 years.

Ukraine is launching a market with the opportunity to purchase demining services through auctions. It will actively engage foreign and private mine action operators in humanitarian demining.

To boost the demining, the allies are sending various resources. For example, the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with about a thousand portable charges for remote demining.

Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky cited data on the prevalence of mines in Ukraine, saying the specialists "detect hundreds of explosive objects every day."

He said that mines and unexploded ammunition are currently spread across 174,000 square kilometers of Ukraine, or about 20% of the state.
