On Friday night, August 25, the Ukrainian Air Force downed four Russian missiles over Ukraine's southern Odesa region.
The Air Force said in a statement that the Russian forces struck with air and sea-based missiles from the waters of the Black and Azov seas, Rubryka reports.
Two Kh-59 guided aerial missiles were fired from a Su-34 bomber from the Black Sea, and two Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from a small missile ship from the Sea of Azov towards the southern regions," the report says.
The Air Force adds that they recorded the launch of one Shahed strike drone from the direction of Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The forces and means of the Air Force destroyed all five targets. There is no information available about the possible damage yet.
Missiles were recorded within the Odesa region, and the attack drone was downed in the central Dnipropetrovsk region. Earlier, the air defense was activated in the Odesa region, and explosions were reported.
In the morning, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration reported on the downing of a drone and a missile over the region. Debris damaged a private house and a gas pipeline in the Hrushivka community.
At the same time, the Air Force did not mention the missile attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region in the morning report. As Rubryka reported, Russian troops attacked the Odesa region with cruise missiles twice last night.
Attacks on Odesa region
In recent weeks, after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, it has been actively attacking Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure. Most of the port infrastructure facilities are located in the Odesa region.
On the night of August 22 to August 23, the Russian forces launched another attack on civilian infrastructure. The Russians struck Odesa with drones from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov. The Russian occupiers targeted granaries and a production and transshipment complex in the Danube.
On August 16, the Russians once again attacked the south of Ukraine with the help of Shahed kamikaze drones. Air defense forces shot down 13 drones over Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. But there were also impacts. One of the drones hit the Reni port, causing a fire and damage.
