American surgeons will perform free plastic surgery on Ukrainian soldiers
For the third time, surgeons from the United States will perform free operations for Ukrainian fighters within the Face To Face program.
The project curator and Ukrainian doctor Ivanka Nebor reported this.
What is the problem?
Many Ukrainians went to the front line to defend their country and repel the Russian aggressor. American doctors of plastic and reconstructive surgery are amazed by the resistance of Ukrainians to the Russian invasion. They want to help where Ukrainian medicine is powerless.
What is the solution?
Doctors from the US helped Ukrainians get rid of the scars of war. Currently, the possibilities of plastic surgery and cosmetology make it possible to make all skin defects as invisible as possible.
As part of the Face To Face program, American surgeons will perform plastic surgery on the Ukrainian military free of charge.
The Face To Face humanitarian program was created in cooperation with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the organizations Razom for Ukraine, and INgenius.
How does it work?
Ivanka Nebor reported that surgeons are recruiting patients from the military who suffered face and neck injuries due to armed Russian aggression.
This time, the mission will go to Lviv in November 2023 in partnership with UNBROKEN Ukraine and the First Medical Association of Lviv. During two previous missions, the team operated on 50 patients and consulted another 80.
"Our team takes on the most difficult cases — facial injuries with bone loss of the upper or lower jaw. The Face to Face team is nine surgeons and nine nurses from the United States of America who specialize in facial plastic surgery and perform microsurgical operations to restore lost bones from the legs or arms that need to be transplanted to the face," Ivanka Nebor said.
Rubryka reported that the world-famous French cardiac surgeon came to Ukraine to share his experience with Ukrainian colleagues.
Rubryka also reported that the Ministry of Health of the Italian Republic launched a project to support treatment centers for soldiers and civilians injured due to military operations in Ukraine.
It was reported that the Ministry of Health received one hundred portable systems from the Canadian government and the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation to stabilize the seriously injured during their transportation to hospitals and provide emergency medical assistance at the scene of the call.
