Denmark to provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine – Danish defense ministry
Denmark, together with the Netherlands, will present F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. The Danish Ministry of Defense noted that it agrees to transfer the fighter jets in close cooperation with the US and other partners when the conditions for such a transfer are met.
This is stated in the press release of the Ministry of Defense of Denmark dated August 20.
It noted that among the conditions are successfully selected, vetted, and trained Ukrainian personnel for the F-16, as well as necessary permits, infrastructure, and logistics.
"Given the establishment of a joint coalition for F-16 exercises, we agree that transferring fighters would be a natural next step. The donation will provide Ukraine with fully functional F-16 capabilities," the agency said.
The country's Ministry of Defense added that Denmark would work for other countries to join the coalition and contribute to the fight for Ukraine's freedom.
"I am proud that Denmark and the Netherlands will provide F-16 fighters for Ukraine's struggle for freedom and against Russia's senseless aggression. Denmark's support for Ukraine is unwavering, and thanks to the donation of F-16s, Denmark is now leading the way," said Danish Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen.
