Ukrainian drone attacks military airfield in Russia’s Novgorod region, damaging one warplane
A Ukrainian drone targeted a military airfield in Russia's Novgorod region, causing a fire and damaging one warplane, Russia's defense ministry said on Saturday.
Novgorod is located hundreds of kilometers from Russia's border. However, Ukrainian drones have proven to maneuver through hostile air defenses and target various facilities.
Russian authorities reported nobody was hurt, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
The attack on the military airfield took place around 10:00 a.m., and a copter-type drone was used. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out at the airfield's parking lot, and one warplane was damaged.
Ukrainian OSINT sources report that two Tu-22M long-range supersonic bomber aircraft have been damaged at the airfield. According to the latest data, about 10 warplanes were stationed at the airfield, preparing to be transferred to another location.
