United to win: Britain signs three contracts worth $114 mln to supply Ukraine with air defense systems

The British Ministry of Defense has signed three contracts worth more than $114 million to supply air defense equipment to Ukraine.

As reported, one of the contracts was concluded with the Norwegian company Kongsberg.

Its cost is $71 million, and it provides anti-drone systems, also known as UAS, that the military can remotely use to destroy UAVs.

Unmanned or remotely controlled developments are a relatively broad category of different systems. It also supplies electronic warfare devices, targeted artillery guidance, and night operations equipment.

An example of equipment provided under the agreement is the Cortex Typhon system, which can be rapidly deployed or redeployed.

The other two agreements also relate to air defense; however, as the publication notes, the British Ministry of Defense did not provide specific details.

The contracts were concluded within the framework of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), which has so far collected more than 981 million dollars from around the world. The funds are intended for lethal and non-lethal military support to Ukraine.

It should be noted that a few weeks ago, London announced a new military aid package for Ukraine.

The UK has committed €2.3 billion in further military support until the end of 2023, with additional munitions and equipment to be delivered in the coming months.

In addition, in the United Kingdom, Russian military vehicles captured in Ukraine from the armed forces of the Russian Federation are being disassembled and studied.

Britain also actively supports Ukraine in the UN Security Council. During his speech at the meeting, British Foreign Minister James Cleverley emphasized that the world cannot allow the war in Ukraine to continue for another 500 days.

In addition, the British government continues its humanitarian and economic support to Ukraine.
