Russian troops abduct another Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant employee in occupied Enerhodar
Russian occupiers kidnapped Serhii Spartesnyi, shift supervisor of the turbine department of the operational unit at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in the occupied Enerhodar.
Ukraine's Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom reports this on Telegram.
Armed Russian military came to his home and took him by force to a local occupying police department. Earlier, multiple searches were conducted in Serhii's home, the Russians were constantly checking his computer, mobile phone and social media, the statement said.
Serhii has been detained at the police department. However, there have been no updates about his health condition. Ukraine's side cannot reach him through Russian-occupied authorities as well.
Energoatom calls on the world community to make every effort and take all possible measures to liberate the ZNPP employees held captive by the Russians.
Russian troops have previously kidnapped and continue to torture a ZNPP employee Serhii Potynha, Ukraine's nuclear operator Energoatom said in a Facebook post on July 28. Since the occupation, Potynha has remained in Enerhodar and worked at the plant.
In October 2022, Russian troops kidnapped chief staff, including Ihor Murashov, the plant's general director, who was then released. Valerii Martynyuk, his deputy for personnel, was abducted and is still being held in an unknown place. As suggested by Energoatom, torture, and intimidation may be used against him.
