United to win: Ukraine receives five transformers from USAID to support country's power facilities
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) handed over five transformers worth more than $4.2 million to restore the operation of substations in four regions of Ukraine
USAID announced this on Facebook, Rubryka reports.
What is the problem?
As Rubryka reported, during the 500 days of the full-scale war, half of Ukraine's entire energy sector was damaged by Russian shelling and air attacks. So far, 271 hits to energy facilities have been verified.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko stressed that Ukraine expects Russia will continue attacks on energy facilities next winter.
The Ukrenergo state energy operator called Ukrainians to save energy. The country's electricity consumption has increased sharply due to the heat. At this time, the country's needs for energy equipment, in particular, generators, as well as high-voltage systems that can ensure decentralization of generation, remain relevant.
What is the solution?
Transformers with a 25-63 MVA capacity are intended for substations in four regions, most affected by Russian shelling.
How does it work?
"USAID delivered five transformers with a capacity of 25-63 MVA to restore the operation of critical substations in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions," the organization reported.
This aid worth more than $4.2 million will ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to more than 121,000 consumers.
USAID added that the provided equipment will increase the resilience of networks in those regions that have suffered the most from Russian aggression and deliberate shelling of civilian infrastructure.
Rubryka reported that USAID will provide winter rapeseed seeds for farmers in six regions in cooperation with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Bayer.
The USAID project "Economic Support of Ukraine" handed over ten modern wagons for the transportation of grain to the Ukrainian shipping company "Nibulon."
