Solutions to win: Ukraine opens new fundraiser for 10,000 combat drones

Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced a new fundraiser to collect 235 million hryvnias for 10,000 kamikaze drones.

Fedorov announced this on the Telegram messaging app, Rubryka reports.

What is the problem?

FPV drones are necessary for combat, according to the Ukrainian military. Instead of using Ukrainian soldiers too close to the demarcation line, the armed forces increasingly use FPV drones for surveillance and attacks on Russian positions. These drones are controlled through special glasses with a first-person view.

"It is these drones that are needed at the front line now. They are the ones that change the course of events," said the digital minister.

What is the solution?

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the goal to raise 235 million hryvnias to purchase 10,000 kamikaze drones for the army.

How does it work?

"We are launching Operation Unity! UNITED24, Come Back Alive, and Monobank are joining forces to raise 235 million hryvnias for 10,000 kamikaze drones," Fedorov wrote.

According to the minister, FPV drones will be purchased abroad, and in Ukraine, they will be equipped with combat parts worth UAH 57 million. Everyone who makes a contribution has a chance to receive a mono platinum card, meet with UNITED24 ambassadors, and get military artifacts from Come Back Alive NGO.

The fundraising platform emphasized that this is the first collection during the war in which United24, Come Back Alive, and Monobank participate together.

Background

The Ukrainian military increasingly uses FPV drones on the front, so many have begun to manufacture such devices and teach people how to assemble and operate them. These drones are controlled through special glasses with a first-person view. The acronym FPV: First Person View speaks for itself.

These drones can carry up to 1.5 kg of explosives at a distance of up to 8 kilometers without a repeater. With a useful weight, the drone develops a speed of up to 60 kilometers per hour. Such quadcopters can destroy light equipment and manpower without endangering the Ukrainian military.

Rubryka reported that the 10th model of the FPV drone has already been officially put into operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A project to produce kamikaze drones for the Armed Forces was also launched in the Donetsk region.
