Germany pledges to provide €5 bln annually in military aid to Ukraine

Germany plans to provide Ukraine with 5 billion in annual military aid until 2027, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Aug. 14, Forbes Ukraine reports.

Lindner said the decision still needs to be approved by the German Parliament during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.

Berlin's aid for Ukraine has also included humanitarian assistance, support for Ukrainian migrants living in Germany, and the country's contributions to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The minister specified that Germany's support amounted to €22 billion since the start of the full-scale war.

Right now, we are talking with Ukraine not as a donor country, but as a partner country, the German minister was quoted by Forbes Ukraine.

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner arrived in Kyiv on August 14. During his first visit to Kyiv since the war's outset, he reassured Ukraine of consistent support in its struggle against Russia.

In August, Germany announced the expansion of state guarantees for investments in Ukraine. Previously, the state's Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany expects to provide Ukraine with €17 billion, in arms deliveries until 2027.
