Death toll in Kherson strike rises to seven as 12-year-old boy dies in hospital

Russian troops shelled the Ukraine-liberated Kherson region with the city itself from artillery, previously causing six casualties, including a newborn being dead.

The local prosecutor's office reports death toll rose to seven killed, as a 12-year-old boy, who was pulled from the rubble, died in a hospital. His parents and a baby were killed on the spot.

On the morning of August 13, Russian troops shelled the towns of Stanislav and Shyroka Balka, killing the whole family of five and a 23-year-old baby.

Their 12-year-old son was hospitalized in serious condition. The child's condition is critical, law enforcement officers reported then.

Later authorities reported doctors couldn't save the boy's life.

The Russians hit the village of Stanislav with long-range missile systems, initially killing two people on spot, and damaging five houses.

The prosecutor's office added that seven civilians were killed in today's result of Russian shelling as of 1 p.m.

The liberated Kherson region has been suffering constant Russian shelling since its partial liberation in the fall of 2022. Russian troops have been attacking the civilian housing with various types of weapons, including aerial bombs, long-range missiles, artillery, and mortars.

For example, on August 10, the Russian army shelled a kindergarten in Kherson, injuring one man.

Ukrainian forces responded to the attacks in their own way, targeting Russian artillery systems and logistics on the occupied left bank of the region. Thus, on the night of August 13, in the temporarily occupied Oleshky of the Kherson region, Ukraine destroyed two ammo depots of the Russian invaders.
