The troops of Ukraine's armed forces are advancing on two front sections, namely in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. The enemy, in turn, is trying to break through the defense of the Ukrainian army in the east.

The spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovaliov, reported that on the telethon air.

The Ukrainian military continues to storm the Bakhmut, Melitopol, and Berdiansk areas. The spokesperson said the armed forces made some progress on the Urozhany front and the south and southeast of Staromayorske, and they are now holding the positions they gained.

"At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are restraining the advance of Russian troops on the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts. The enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area northeast of Druzhba," the spokesman added.

For reference:

The Ukrainian military has been conducting a counteroffensive on the front in Ukraine for about two months. During this time, it was possible to liberate several settlements in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions and part of the territory that had been occupied since 2014.

Thus, on August 3, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, reported that units of one of the National Guard brigades advanced almost 650 meters deep into the enemy's defenses on the Melitopol front.

In turn, the ISW noted that the occupiers are trying to advance on the Kupiansk – Svatove – Kreminna border, as well as in the Bakhmut area and on the Avdiivka – Donetsk border.

In her turn, the head of the United Press Center of the Operational Command "South" Nataliia Humeniuk, said that on the southern front, the enemy is losing its quantitative position due to artillery fire and is also starting to lose its territorial position.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian military continues to advance in the country's south. According to Hanna Maliar, the defense forces in some places have already broken through the first line of defense and have now moved to the intermediate line.

Additionally, Ukraine's armed forces have already pushed into the first line of defense of the Russian occupation on the Tavria front.

Ukrainian troops also advanced hundreds of meters on the Melitopol front.

In addition, as specified by the Institute for the Study of War, the strikes of Ukraine's armed forces on critical Russian ground communications facilities, in particular on bridges in occupied Crimea, are part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's interception campaign aimed at creating conditions for future stages of a counteroffensive.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 30 combat clashes occurred at the front on August 9.
