Negotiations with Russia are possible – but only after its troops withdraw, and not involving Putin - FM Kuleba
Ukraine will be ready to negotiate with the Russian Federation only after the occupation troops of the Russian Federation leave the Ukrainian land.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with the Italian Corriere della Sera.
During the conversation with the journalist, the head of the foreign diplomatic service assured that negotiations with the Russian Federation are possible. At the same time, Kuleba emphasized that only they will not be with the current Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
"We can negotiate with Russia after the withdrawal of their troops from our lands, but not with Putin. This goal can be achieved through a mix of war and diplomacy.
Our generals are engaged in the first; their task is to encourage the Russians to retreat and to convince them that it is better to talk than to fight," the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The head of the Ukrainian department also noted that it is impossible to negotiate with Putin because he has committed too many crimes.
"There are other diplomatic ways to conduct business indirectly. But it is clear to us that we will never be able to see Putin and Zelensky at the same table," the Ukrainian minister emphasized.
For reference:
It should be noted that on August 5-6, a summit for achieving peace was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to restore stability and fairness for Ukraine, with negotiations between the nations' representatives taking place openly and truthfully.
After the meeting, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, announced that Ukraine plans to hold two summits on the "peace formula" presented by Zelensky.
"The first summit is constitutive; at it, the participants must approve Zelensky's 10-point "peace formula" as a basis," said the head of the presidential office.
After that, according to Yermak, several summits should be held according to directions – for each of the points of the "peace formula," where ways of their implementation will be developed.
"The second summit, the final one, will have to record the end of the war," emphasized the head of the president's office. Yermak added that this summit will involve the participation of Russia.
