Azerbaijan to train Ukrainian sappers – Ministry of Internal Affairs

Azerbaijan offered Ukraine to hold training sessions for Ukrainian sappers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this.

As noted, on August 10, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Bohdan Drapiaty, met with the Azerbaijani delegation led by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymour Mardaliev.

It is reported that the parties discussed the organization of future training on the territory of Azerbaijan to exchange experience in the issue of humanitarian demining.

During the meeting, Mardaliev said, "Azerbaijan joins the list of countries that will conduct training for Ukrainian specialists in the field of demining."

"Our experience is very interesting for you. We are talking not only about national opportunities but also about international missions in which Azerbaijan was involved," said Seymour Mardaliev.

Before that, Drapiaty said that as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation, approximately 174,000 square kilometers are potentially contaminated with mines and other explosive objects.

Around fourteen thousand square kilometers of Ukrainian water must be cleared of mines and other explosives.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized that currently, Ukraine is making maximum efforts on the issue of humanitarian demining. However, the country needs help in providing equipment, namely, mechanized demining machines.

Bohdan Drapiaty emphasized that one day of work on this machine replaces 100 days of sappers' work.

It should be noted that the Canadian Armed Forces released a video of their service members training Ukrainian sappers in Poland.

In addition, Canada handed over 20 pyrotechnic suits to Ukrainian rescuers.

In turn, Lithuania decided to create a coalition for demining Ukraine and invited other states to join and assist the state that suffered from Russian aggression.

Also, as part of the aid package to the war-torn country, South Korea will provide Ukraine with mine detectors and demining equipment.

And as part of the aid package, Denmark handed over six drones for demining the regions of Ukraine.

In addition, a private company is building the first demining vessel at its own expense for the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv. In total, the company wants to produce 15 such ships.
