Solutions to win: Kyiv authorities restored high-rise building in Bucha ravaged by Russian forces

The war-torn Bucha in the Kyiv region requires the most effort in restoration, along with other towns. Ukraine's government restored one of the high-rise buildings as part of rebuilding destroyed housing, local authorities said Wednesday.

What is the problem?

Most settlements in the Kyiv region were affected by the Russian military invasion in February-March 2022 during active hostilities. Apartment buildings, water supply networks, electricity supply, and heating were damaged.

What is the solution?

Previously, the Kyiv regional military administration, along with UNDP, signed a memorandum of cooperation and large-scale restoration of 18 high-rise buildings. The project will return more than 4,000 residents to their homes.

As of June 27, a total of 12,108 objects damaged due to Russian military aggression have been fully or partially restored in the Kyiv region.

One of these houses is a high-rise building in the city of Bucha at 8 Energetikov Street. The building has 56 apartments, where 127 people live, including 22 children, the authorities said.

During active hostilities, the blast wave and debris significantly damaged the house, as the slate roof was damaged, and windows were partially broken.

Local authorities assured to have transparency and accountability of all processes. Online cameras are installed at each building: everyone can follow the link to see how the work is being carried out.

The restoration of three high-rise buildings started this week. As for others, the work will be carried out in stages soon and should be completed by the end of the year.

During the hostilities in the Kyiv region, destruction was recorded in 46 territorial communities out of 69. Critical destruction remains in Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodianka, Makariv, Dmytrivka, and Velyka Dymerka communities.
