Ukrainian forces hit Russian command post in occupied Nova Kakhovka

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian command post in the city of Nova Kakhovka as the Ukrainian military increases activity in the southern Kherson region, says Directorate of Strategic Communications.

Nova Kakhovka is located on the occupied east bank of the Dnipro River, where Ukrainian forces reportedly carried out a raid on Tuesday. Ukraine refused to confirm reports of the operation.

At about 10:00 a.m. (local time), Ukrainian forces hit a command post of the Russian army in the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka," the Strategic Communications Department said on Telegram.

The Ukrainian military also published a video confirmation of the strike. The smoke above the buildings can be seen in the video.

As previously reported, on August 8, the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), based on reports from Russian pro-war bloggers, suggested that the Ukrainian forces had conducted a limited raid across the Dnipro River to the left (eastern) bank of Kherson region.

Over the past day, August 8, the troops eliminated more than 800 Russian invaders.

The sweeping counteroffensive has been ongoing for about two months. During this time, Ukrainian troops have managed to liberate several settlements in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, including part of the territory that had been occupied since 2014.

The ISW noted that Russian forces are trying to advance at the eastern Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, as well as near Bakhmut and at the Avdiivka-Donetsk front.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Army, noted that the Russian occupation forces use the Kupiansk direction as the main one for their offensive, having created an offensive group consisting of eight Storm-Z assault units.

The long-prepared forces are continuing consistent work on the southern front. Ukrainian forces have already breached the first defense line, says the defense ministry, additionally reporting the "100-meter advance."
