Ukrainian soldiers completed their demining training course hosted by Spain. The training ended on August 3.

The personnel trained within the mission now amounts to nearly 1,900 soldiers, which represents 95% of the 2,000 committed annual troops.

What is the problem?

The suppression of large-scale Russian war by Ukrainian soldiers was possible thanks to international training organized by international allies.

Ukrainian partnering states have been contributing to training the Ukrainian military since 2014, but after the new stage of war took its turn, this process reached a drastically new level.

What is the solution?

The training of Ukrainian soldiers was coordinated through the 'Toledo Training Coordination Center (TTCC) attached to the EUMAM UA mission of the EU.

How does it work?

Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles visited the 44 Ukrainian soldiers who were receiving training in the fight against improvised explosive devices (C-IED).

Robles has also congratulated the Spanish military for the training they provide and which at this time, she has said, is "fundamental" since the number of casualties in Ukraine is still very high due to the counter-offensive.

This course is essential when Ukraine is facing a counteroffensive and huge number of mines on the ground. A majority of these casualties happens precisely due to the mines, which is why the courses are aimed at being able to detect and deactivate explosive devices, Robles stressed.

Robles reiterated Spain's "absolute commitment" to Ukraine, noting that a military hospital has arrived in the country today and that the ambulances, four Leopard tanks will soon arrive in Ukraine, along with the pledged aid package worth 5,5 million euros.
