Inviolability of Ukraine's borders to become basis of peace agreement – Saudi Arabia summit
A two-day summit is being held in Saudi Arabia, where the Ukrainian Peace Formula is being discussed. According to the results of the first day, namely on August 5, representatives of about 40 countries agreed that the basis of the future peace agreement would be the inviolability of Ukraine's borders.
The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reports this.
As reported in the publication, it was agreed in Jeddah that respect for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty would be the basis of any peace agreement and the priority of the UN Charter. This is reported by European sources at the end of the first day of the negotiation summit regarding Ukraine, which unites about 40 countries.
The same sources said it was decided to form working groups on the key topics of the 10 points of the Peace Formula proposed by Kyiv.
"The dates of the meeting of the heads of state have not yet been determined, but it is considered quite realistic by the end of the year," they explain.
It should be noted that on August 5, in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, two-day negotiations on the discussion of the Ukrainian Peace Formula began.
Representatives from 30 countries, including China, Brazil, and India, received invitations.
The negotiations are designed to convince South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia countries to support Ukraine's peace plan, which ends the war by returning Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
For reference:
The deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, previously said that at the meeting, lasting for two days, the countries would share responsibility among themselves for specific points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
He added that none of the leaders objected to the necessity of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and noted that there are fewer and fewer alternatives to it.
President Volodymyr Zelensky expects the Peace Formula summit to be organized in the fall of 2023.
