Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 27 attack drones and 30 cruise missiles overnight

On the evening of August 5 and during the night of August 6, Russian invaders massively attacked the territory of Ukraine with missiles and attack drones: Ukrainian air defense shot down 30 cruise missiles and 27 Shahed-136/131 drones.

The Air Forces of Ukraine's armed forces reported that on Telegram.

As the airmen reported, in the first wave of the attack on the evening of August 5, the enemy used:

• 14 Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles,
• three Kh-47 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles.

"The anti-aircraft defense destroyed 12 out of 14 Kalibr missiles. We do not disclose information about the Kinzhal missiles," the Air Force noted.

In addition, according to the Air Force, on the night of August 6, the enemy continued to attack:

• by strike UAVs Shahed-136/131 from the south-eastern direction,
• by Kalibr cruise missiles – from the waters of the Black Sea,
• by Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aviation aircraft from the Caspian region.

"All 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs, 5 out of 6 Kalibr missiles ( during the second wave), and 13 out of 20 air-based cruise missiles Kh- 101/Kh555", emphasized the airmen.

So, in several waves of attacks from the evening of August 5 to the morning of August 6, 2023, the enemy used 70 means of air attack.

Anti-aircraft defense destroyed:

• 17 Kalibr cruise missiles;
• 13 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
• 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.

For reference:

On August 3, Ukrainian airmen destroyed 15 Shahed drones and seven reconnaissance drones at the operational-tactical level at night.

In addition, on August 2, enemy troops also attacked the Odesa region and Kyiv with the help of Shakhed kamikaze drones.

As a result of the shelling of Odesa on the night of August 2, almost 40,000 tons of grain, which was waiting for in Africa, China, and Israel, was damaged.
