Ukraine’s western Ivano-Frankivsk region opens new rehabilitation center for wounded soldiers

A rehabilitation center for wounded soldiers, designed for 20 inpatient beds, has opened in Ukraine's west.

Svitlana Onyshchuk, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, announced this on Facebook.

What is the problem?

Ukrainian defenders took on themselves to protect their country, sacrificing their physical and mental health. Wounded soldiers require rehabilitation due to the physical and psychological toll they have experienced on the battlefield. These brave soldiers have endured injuries ranging from amputations and severe burns to traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The rehabilitation process plays a crucial role in helping them regain their physical strength, mobility, and independence while addressing the emotional and psychological trauma they have endured.

What is the solution?

The center will accept wounded defenders and neurological patients with lesions of the musculoskeletal system for treatment.

How does it work?

Twenty-seven department employees, particularly eight doctors, two assistants each, speech therapists and psychologists, and junior medical staff, will help the military recover and become mobile.

The department has the necessary equipment and simulators. The official said that the regional administration is working on expanding the rehabilitation facilities network, as they are needed significantly. She reported that the next step is opening a physical and mental rehabilitation center in Ivano-Frankivsk designed for 200 beds.
