Ukrainian forces make progress on Melitopol front, advancing 650 m into Russian positions

Units of one of the National Guard brigades advanced almost 650 meters deep into Russian defenses on the Melitopol front, says Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
The units of one of the National Guard's operational brigades advanced about 650 meters deep into the enemy's defenses, 1,500 meters along the front. They secured a position on the occupied line in the Melitopol direction, Rubryka reports.
Klymenko added that in the Mariinka and Berdiansk directions, designated forces and means of the National Guard are holding the defense lines.
What we know about Ukraine's counteroffensive
Ukraine launched a major offensive on the southern front. The counteroffensive against Russian troops is gaining momentum. So far, progress has been slow due to Russian minefields, tank barriers, and other defenses.
British intelligence reported that in the south of Ukraine, an intensification of hostilities could be observed in two areas of the front.
On July 27, it became known about the liberation of the inhabited settlement of Staromaiorske from the Russian invaders.
The National Guardsmen achieved success in the offensive in the Melitopol direction. Currently, they are entrenched at the achieved boundaries.
According to Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar, the Defense Forces of Ukraine liberated two square kilometers of territory from the Russian invaders in the Bakhmut direction in a week and more than 12 square kilometers in the south.
