Russia has killed 499 Ukrainian children and injured 1,090 since beginning of full-scale war – prosecutor general’s office

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, 1,589 children have been injured, and 1,090 minors have received injuries of varying degrees of severity.

Rubrika reports, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General, that, as of the morning of August 1, 2023, at least 1,589 children suffered at the hands of Russia.

According to juvenile prosecutors' official information, the number of children Russia killed has increased and is 499.

The number of victims of the war also increased, with 1,090 minors who received injuries of varying degrees of severity.

Juvenile prosecutors emphasize that these numbers are not final, as work is ongoing to establish them in places of active hostilities, in temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

Children were most affected in:

  • Donetsk region – 483,
  • Kharkiv region – 298,
  • Kyiv region – 129,
  • Mykolaiv region – 95,
  • Chernihiv region – 71,
  • Luhansk region – 67,
  • Kherson region – 117,
  • Zaporizhzhia region – 97,
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 94.

The latest discovered facts of crimes against children:

  • During the day, on July 31, a 10-year-old girl was killed, and eight children aged 4 to 17 were severely injured by a Russian rocket strike on Kryvyi Rih.
  • On July 31, a 16-year-old girl was injured by Russian shelling in Kherson.

As of August 1, juvenile prosecutors emphasize that they have already found 15,569 children. The prosecutor's office considers 1,041 minors to be missing. The department stressed that 19,546 children were abducted to Russia and the so-called republics, of which only 386 minors were returned home.

As Rubryka reported, Russia announced that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, about 4.8 million residents of Ukraine had been deported, of which more than 700,000 are children.
