Russia rockets strike Ukrainian cities of Kryvyi Rih and Kherson: killed civilians reported

On the Monday morning of July 31, explosions rang out in Ukraine's central and southern cities of Kryvyi Rih and Kherson.

As it became known, Russian rockets struck residential buildings in Kryvyi Rih.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko reported the details of the tragedy on the Telegram messaging app.

"Kryvyi Rih. Russians struck the city with two rockets. One rocket hit the four-story building of the educational institution. There are probably people under the rubble. Rescuers and police are working," Klymenko said. "The second rocket destroyed the section of 4th to the 9th floors in the residential building. A fire broke out. As of 10:15, one person died, and ten residents sought medical help. Emergency services are putting out the fire and dismantling the rubble. There may still be people there."

Rescue operations are ongoing. Before the explosion, the Air Force reported the threat of using ballistic weapons in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.

Russian troops also shelled the center of Kherson with Grad rocket launchers, Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, reported on Telegram.

"In the morning, the Russian army killed a man in Kherson. Today at around 8:20 a.m., the occupiers shelled the central part of Kherson with the Grad multiple rocket launching system. An employee of the city's utility company was hit by enemy fire. The man died on the spot from his injuries," Prokudin said.

Also, according to the report, last day, July 30, the Russian forces launched 68 attacks, firing 358 shells from mortars, artillery, Grads, tanks, and UAVs. The Russians fired 36 shells at Kherson.

The Russian military aimed at the residential quarters of the region's populated areas, the territory, and the buildings of the plant and enterprise in Kherson. As a result of Russian aggression, five people were injured.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reacted to the morning shelling of Kherson and the rocket attack on Kryvyi Rih.

The Ukrainian leader said on Telegram:

"Monday morning. Regions of Ukraine are under fire from the occupiers, who continue to terrorize peaceful cities and people. Kryvyi Rih, Kherson. Hitting residential buildings, the educational building of the university, and intersections. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded. There may be people under the rubble. My condolences to everyone who lost relatives and loved ones due to Russian terror."

Zelensky said that rescuers and all necessary services were on the spot and working, trying to save as many people as possible.

"I have already held talks with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine. Deputy Head of the Office of the President for Regional Policy Oleksii Kuleba and the heads of the regions are dealing with the situation. Recently, the enemy has been stubbornly hitting the cities, the city centers. They are shelling civilian objects and housing. But this terror will not frighten or break us. We are working and saving our people," the message reads.
