Mykolaiv ports will not be demined yet – head of regional military administration
Currently, Mykolaiv has no intention of demining the ports.
The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, announced on the air of the national telethon "Yedyni Novyni" on July 30.
"We are not planning to begin demining ports now, although this issue is important, and we are working on it. The regional military administration and the Naval Forces have discussed this problem and decided what tools are needed to demine the water areas. But this issue is not currently on time," said Kim.
In justification of his opinion, he noted that the Mykolaiv region is not included in the Grain Agreement.
And secondly, the enemy is located on the Kinburn Spit, only 4 km from the town of Ochakiv. That is why the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities are shelled almost every day. Therefore, it is inappropriate to take up this matter of demining now.
Kim also emphasized that now the Russians are not targeting Mykolaiv ports – they are simply firing missiles at peaceful neighborhoods without industrial or military facilities.
For reference:
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, 29 foreign ships have been in Mykolaiv ports.
"There are currently 29 foreign ships with cargo in the ports of Mykolaiv, including 6 Turkish ones. All of them are ready to go to sea as soon as the decision is made to join Mykolaiv in the "grain corridor," – said the head of the regional military administration Vitaliy Kim at a briefing.
According to him, the situation on these ships is very different.
Most have crews, others have been evacuated, and some cargo is in danger of catching fire. Therefore, the Regional Military Administration controlled these issues; some ships had water and provisions delivered to them, while the owners took care of it themselves for the other vessels.
Also, according to Kim, there is currently no official information about Mykolaiv joining the Grain Agreement, and, in his opinion, it will become more real only after the de-occupation of the Kinburn Spit.
It should be noted that the Nibulon company began to build a vessel for demining in Mykolaiv. It will be handed over to the State Emergency Service for demining waterways.
Rubryka also reported that 23 Mykolaiv shipbuilders went to France to build a fleet for Ukrainian border guards.
