Background
The Russian occupiers are constantly shelling the border communities of the Sumy region, the Sumy regional military administration reported. Four territorial communities are most often shelled: Bilopillia, Velykopysarivka, Seredino-Bud, and Shalyhyne.
The Defense Council of the Sumy region passed a decision to prepare and evacuate residents of the region's settlements in the five-kilometer border zone.
According to authorities' estimates, about 20,000 residents live in a five-kilometer zone. The evacuation will concern 15 communities in 4 districts of the region.
However, residents of the Sumy region's border will have the right to choose whether to leave for a safe place or stay in populated areas that the Russians are shelling.
