Ukraine launches portal for citizens to assist law enforcement in seizing Russian assets abroad

In Ukraine, a special portal was launched to give Ukrainians an opportunity to assist law enforcement in finding and confiscating Russian assets outside the country.

National Agency on Corruption Prevention reports this.

What is the problem?

"Today, the Task Force is faced with an ambitious challenge recovering assets in Ukraine of perpetrators of aggression, war, and other international crimes against Ukraine and its people.

They will go to compensate the victims of aggression and the state of Ukraine. And this work must be accelerated as much as possible," the Prosecutor General previously stated.

What is the solution?

At the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian Task Force for pursuing, capturing, and seizing the property of those responsible for Russian war crimes activated the Portal informant accounts about the possessions of people implicated in Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

How does it work?

Now ordinary citizens can join the portal.

The Task Force interacts with other countries, including the US and the EU, and shares data on the assets of people involved in the war or those who evade sanctions.

If you know about a war supporter owning property outside the country, report the information on the Portal.

For example, about:

  • apartments in Great Britain,
  • estates in the USA, Canada, and any other countries,
  • gold bars in Switzerland,
  • yachts moored in EU countries.

In addition, messages on the portal can be submitted anonymously and in three languages:

  • in Ukrainian,
  • in English
  • in Russian

For reference:

Ukraine and its allies are creating a format that will allow it to confiscate frozen Russian assets in Europe, the United States, Canada, and other partner states. The parties want to send them to restore Ukraine.

During the US-Ukraine Partnership Forum, US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said that the United States wants to use the frozen assets of the Russian Federation in the US to restore Ukrainian infrastructure.

It should be noted that earlier, the mass media reported that EU leaders supported the plan to use frozen Russian assets to recover Ukraine.

However, Germany opposes the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine due to legal and financial risks.
