Ukrainian boxer Usyk donates ₴12 mln toward country's reconstruction

Starting from December 2022, the Ukrainian boxer, the world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has already donated over 12 million hryvnias through the UNITED24 platform for the country's reconstruction, namely, for the reconstruction of the residential house in Irpin.

The coordinator of the UNITED24 platform Yaroslava Hres reported that the Ukrainian athlete called her and offered to transfer the amount needed to close the fundraiser to rebuild the house in Irpin. At that time, about 2 million hryvnias were left. "The fundraiser is closed," she said then.

The coordinator said that since December 2022, since the beginning of his ambassadorship, Usyk has donated more than 12 million hryvnias through UNITED24 alone.

"Thank you, champion!" said Hres.

On October 18, the absolute heavyweight boxing world champion, the super heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk became the ambassador of the UNITED24 fundraising platform. He focuses on supporting the "Reconstruction of Ukraine" direction.

He chose the restoration of the house in Irpin as his first project. On the first floor of this building, there is a sports hall where boxing coach Oleksii Dzhunkivskyi studied.

In December, during the blackouts, Usyk donated $50,000 to purchase generators for Ukrainian hospitals and recorded an appeal from Kyiv with football legend Andrii Shevchenko and astronaut Scott Kelly to encourage worldwide to donate.

Oleksandr Usyk also supported the charity platform Newkrfornt of 13,800,000 hryvnias. These funds cover entirely Newkraine's charity fundraiser for the reconstruction of ten modern houses in the village of Moshchun, which was destroyed by the Russian army during its offensive on Kyiv.

As Rubryka reported, UNITED24 ambassador Scott Kelly talked with Ukrainian doctors online. Ukrainian medics told the astronaut, who collected $650,000 for ambulances through the platform, about the constant shelling of the brigades and the importance of the donated cars.

The official fundraising platform UNITED24 was created on the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky to unite opinion leaders from around the world to help Ukraine. UNITED24 ambassadors include actors, directors, athletes, artists, scientists, and writers. To date, more than $432 million has been raised through UNITED24.
