United to win: Ukraine receives six more Gepard tanks and thousands of munitions from Germany
Germany has announced a new batch of military aid for Ukraine, including Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns and ammunition.
Rubryka reports, citing the updated list of weapons for Ukraine published by the German government, that Ukraine received six Gepard tanks and more than 15,000 rounds of ammunition for the Gepards.
The new aid package also includes more than 2,600 smoke shells of 155 mm caliber, ten tracked all-terrain vehicles Bandvagn 206, 20 reconnaissance UAVs RQ-35 Heidrun, and 13 Vector reconnaissance drones.
Germany also transfers eight ambulances and eight dental sterilizers.
What do we know about Germany's aid?
Last week the aid package from Germany included 10 Leopard 1 A5 tanks. Ukraine also received 20 MG3 machine guns for arming Leopard 2 tanks, Marder BMPs, and Pionierpanzer Dachs engineering vehicles.
On July 14, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the arms transfer to Ukraine worth $19 billion. The chancellor noted that this account was started after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. He specified that 19 billion is only aid from Germany at the state level. The amount does not include the support of foundations and organizations.
Also, during the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11, 2023, Olaf Scholz and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new large aid package for Ukraine for $770 million.
It includes the supply of two Patriot SAM launchers, 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 25 Leopard 1A5 tanks, and five Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles.
