United to win: Germany and Poland agree to repair Leopard tanks for Ukrainian army
Berlin confirmed that they had agreed with their Polish colleagues regarding repairing German-made tanks damaged at the front in Ukraine.
The Federal Ministry of Defense spokesman, Mitko Müller, stated at a briefing in Berlin, Ukrinform reports.
What is the problem?
Earlier, a dispute arose between Germany and Poland over the repair of German-made tanks damaged in Ukraine and handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They claimed the Polish side significantly overestimated the required amount for such works.
During a recent visit to Poland, the Minister of Defense of Germany instructed to resolve the issue within two weeks.
What is the solution?
"We welcome the fact that Ukrainian Leopard 2A4 tanks can now be repaired in Poland," Muller said.
How does it work?
He called the German-Polish efforts successful. Muller did not name the amounts and throughput. It was announced that work on the 2A5 and 2A6 models has already begun at German enterprises. The spokesman did not rule out that in the future, these types of tanks will be able to be repaired not only in Germany.
