Russian shelling kills one child and injures seven civilians in Donetsk region

On the evening of July 24, Russian troops shelled the town of Kostiantynivka, the Donetsk region, with cluster munitions.

The shelling killed a 10-year-old child. At least seven other civilians were wounded, including four children.

Around 7 p.m., the Russians opened fire on a local pond where people were resting. The attack was carried out with cluster munitions from the Soviet Smerch multiple rocket launchers.

At least seven civilians were wounded as a result of the shelling of Kostiantynivka. Four children are among the wounded: 5, 11 and 12-year-old girls and an 11-year-old boy. One child is in serious condition, said Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the local military administration.

Later, he noted that the heavily wounded child could not be saved and died soon after the rescuers came in.

Three other people were injured, including two 35-year-old women and a 44-year-old man. All of them received medical care. The final number of victims is being established.

Russian forces regularly strike the region since the war's outset. Not only frontline settlements but also towns located further are under constant fire with chemical, cluster, and standard munitions.

Recently, four civilians were killed in hostile attacks in Sofiyivka, Avdiivka, Toretske, and Fedorivka in the Donetsk region. Another 11 people were injured.

Russian forces also destroyed the Palace of Culture in Chasiv Yar with cluster munitions. The building was used as the city's humanitarian headquarters and a place to provide medical care.
