Kyiv region to have nuclear scientific hub built in Slavutych
The North-Ukraine nuclear scientific hub will be built in Slavutych, Kyiv region.
State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom" reported this.
The Regional Development Agency and the city government of Slavutych implement the project. The Slavutych Nuclear Science Hub will bring together research institutes, educational institutions, and energy companies to collaborate on the following:
- creating new nuclear power plant projects,
- addressing safety concerns,
- and developing the related infrastructure.
The hub will work on developing green energy based on the Chornobyl NPP and will look for ways to use alienated territories further. They will also focus on the problem of disposal of nuclear waste, which is generated due to the operation of Ukrainian nuclear plants, notes Energoatom.
The hub will be located in the Slavutych Center for Professional Development building, writes "Promyslovy portal." There, the roof will be repaired, the interior will be reconstructed, and the communications and heating systems will be completely updated.
Then they plan to purchase all the necessary equipment for research activities, conferences, and the work of specialists. In addition, a digital simulator of nuclear reactors of the future will be launched on the basis of the institution.
