Wagner Group arrival to Belarus is aimed at intimidating Ukrainian civilians – commander of Joint Forces
The Wagner mercenaries, recently deployed to Belarus, are aimed at psychological pressure and intimidation of Ukrainians, says Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, commander of the Joint Forces.
Media have frequently been alarming about the arrival of Wagner mercenaries to Belarus.
During Ukraine's training at the Chornobyl civilian infrastructure zone, Nayev commented on the situation at the border.
The events that members of the Wagner PMC are now involved in are aimed at psychological pressure on the population of Ukraine. To intimidate. But we do not need to be intimidated, because we know what we have to do and we are doing everything to ensure that enemy reconnaissance and sabotage forces cannot successfully operate on the territory of Ukraine, in particular in the Kyiv direction in the Chornobyl zone, the lieutenant general emphasized.
The commander stressed that five sections of roads leading to the state border with Belarus were destroyed over the past week to prevent any enemy actions. More than 60 forest blockages were created and mined. Ukrainian troops laid 2.5 thousand anti-tank mines, with the personnel being trained weekly.
Our men are very motivated and trained. We are doing everything to ensure that the population of Ukraine believes in our Armed Forces, emphasized Nayev.
