Kyiv installs autonomous solar power stations to supply energy to hospitals
Autonomous solar power stations will be installed in Ukraine's capital Kyiv for uninterrupted power supply to the city's hospitals.
Rubryka reports, citing Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko.
What is the problem?
Since October 10, 2022, the Russian army has constantly attacked Ukraine's energy structure with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Because of this, thousands of Ukrainians are periodically forced to live without electricity, water, and heating.
What is the solution?
"Together with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), we are implementing an important project — autonomous solar power stations for the uninterrupted power supply of hospitals in Kyiv," the city's mayor wrote.
How does it work?
The mayor said this project will provide an uninterrupted power supply to three medical facilities at the moment – one of the city's clinical hospitals, a maternity hospital, and a perinatal center.
The equipment will also make it possible to partially replace the energy consumed from renewable sources, and accumulate electricity, which reduces the risks of power outages in institutions, and reduce the amount of CO2 emissions.
Нагадаємо, у столиці на даху багатоповерхівки на вулиці Великій Васильківській встановили сонячні панелі, тому мешканці будинку залишаються з теплом та гарячою водою під час відключень світла.
Rubryka reported that solar panels were installed on the roof of a high-rise building on Velyka Vasylkivska Street in Kyiv so the residents of the building remain warm and have hot water during power outages caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian charity Energy Act For Ukraine Foundation also installs hybrid solar systems in Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital and Ivankiv Central District Hospital.
