Solutions to win: American University Kyiv offers scholarships to veterans and children of fallen soldiers
American University Kyiv (AUK) started offering scholarships for Ukrainian veterans, widows, widowers, and children of fallen soldiers.
The press service of the university reported this.
What is the problem?
AUK's mission is to train future leaders to solve societal problems through research and collaboration and to act as a catalyst for transforming Ukraine's education system.
AUK, based at Arizona State University, creates an optimal environment for young talents to develop their professional skills and drive progress while staying at home in Ukraine.
What is the solution?
The first university in Ukraine that provides modern American education to students with global ambitions, American University Kyiv (AUK) launched scholarships for Ukrainian veterans and widows, widowers, and children of fallen soldiers.
The AUK scholarship fund will provide a unique opportunity for Ukrainian students to receive an American diploma while studying in Ukraine.
How does it work?
Scholarships will cover studies in bachelor's and master's programs.
Applications for scholarships can be submitted in the following terms:
- for bachelor's programs – until July 25,
- for master's programs – until August 21, 2023.
Funds for training will be provided by the AUK Veterans Scholarship Fund, which was established together with the Ukrainian Veterans Fund.
The university also continues operating the Build Solid Futures scholarship program for talented students, launched in 2022.
Within the framework of the program, AUK provides scholarships to students based on the following:
- their academic achievements (merit-based),
- financial needs (need-based),
- wartime scholarships.

For reference:
American University Kyiv is the first private university in Ukraine according to American education standards. It was opened in 2022 in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), one of the largest universities in the United States.
In September 2022, American University Kyiv (AUK) started its first academic year. One hundred fifty-two students were enrolled in the institution.
Due to the full-scale war, the first semester of the study was not held in the building of the River Station in Kyiv, where the university campus was set up, but in online mode. Training started on five programs: Global Management, Business Administration, and Software Engineering.
In May 2023, the university was officially opened in the River Station building, and students' offline education began.
It should be noted that the Kyiv School of Economics charity fund offers a grant program to support war veterans, defenders of the country, their children, and children of IDPs in obtaining higher education.
