Zelensky holds first-ever meeting with South Korean president in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with South Korean leader Yoon Suk Yeol, who arrived in Kyiv on July 15 on an unannounced visit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that on Telegram.

"Today, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee are in Ukraine. During this visit – the first in the history of our relations – we are discussing everything that is important for the normal and safe life of people, for the rules-based international order", said the Head of State.

According to the president, during the meeting, the parties raised the following issues:

• return of deported adults and children;
• implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula;
• preparations for the Global Peace Summit;
• food and energy security;
• economic cooperation.

"I am sure that together we will give more strength to our peoples and the global positions of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea," added Volodymyr Zelensky.

On July 15, the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and his first lady Kim Keon Hee arrived in Ukraine with an unannounced visit.

It should be noted that, on July 13, Poland and South Korea agreed on participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine and signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of post-war reconstruction.

As Rubryka wrote, at the end of May, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum on strengthening cooperation in the field of reconstruction of Ukraine.

During a meeting with high-ranking officials and business representatives of the Republic of Korea, the Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandra Azarkhina, presented the critical priorities of recovery for 2023.

In addition, South Korea recently provided non-lethal aid to Ukraine, which is fighting against Russian aggression.

Moreover, Ukraine will receive a "smart city" development platform from South Korea.

Even though South Korea is a major arms exporter, the country has so far ruled out the possibility of sending lethal weapons to Ukraine, limiting itself to non-lethal aid.
