"Security of Ukraine is integral to the security of the Euro-Atlantic region": president's office publishes joint declaration of support for Ukraine
The office of the president published the declaration of the G7 countries on their support for Ukraine, which was approved in Vilnius.
The presidential office published the declaration on its official website.
On July 12, 2023, the leaders of the G7 reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to ensuring Ukraine's freedom, independence, democracy, and sovereignty remain intact and for the country to be self-sufficient and capable of fending off any future assaults. The countries recognized that Ukraine's safety is vital to the stability of the Euro-Atlantic area. They condemned the unlawful and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia as a menace to global security, a blatant defiance of international law – especially the UN Charter – and in contradiction with our safety endeavors.
Moreover, they assured support to Ukraine as it resists Russian aggression, no matter how long it takes.
The parties agreed to collaborate with Ukraine on long–term, individual plans and contracts for reliable security, including providing:
- security aid and modern military hardware for land, air and sea operations, including making air defense, artillery and long–range shots, armored vehicles and other key features like air combat a priority;
- helping to grow Ukraine's military production industry;
- giving instruction and drills for Ukrainian troops;
- sharing and cooperating in intelligence; and aiding cyber security measures, security and strength operations, including addressing hybrid threats.
In addition, G7 countries agreed on:
- Strengthening Ukraine's economic stability and resilience, including through reconstruction and recovery efforts, to create the conditions conducive to promoting Ukraine's economic prosperity, including its energy security.
- Providing technical and financial support for Ukraine's immediate needs stemming from Russia's war as well as to enable Ukraine to continue implementing the effective reform agenda that will support the good governance necessary to advance towards its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
It should be noted that in the event of another Russian armed attack, they plan to promptly consult with Ukraine and identify the subsequent measures to be taken. In accordance with their legal and constitutional commitments, the G7 countries willing to bestow Ukraine with expeditious and enduring security aid, current military instruments in the air, land, and sea domains, and economic aid, to exact fiscal and other repercussions on the Russian Federation, and to consult with Ukraine on their rights of self–defense pursuant to Article 51 of the UN Charter. To achieve this goal, they shall cooperate with Ukraine to develop an upgraded set of security practices and safeguards in the event of future assault to facilitate Ukraine distributing its territory and independence.
