Four soldiers injured by landmines in Ukraine’s Rivne region, two killed
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the fact of the death of military personnel during defense measures in the Rivne region.
The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this in a comment to Ukrainian Pravda.
"Employees of the pre-trial investigation bureau have started a pre-trial investigation into the fact of an ammunition explosion in the Rivne region, which killed two soldiers. Four more were injured to varying degrees and were hospitalized," the press service said.
An investigation has determined that, at approximately 18:30 on July 10, 2023, a mine exploded during the demining of approaches to a critical strategic object in the area.
According to the preliminary data of the investigation, the measures were carried out at a safe distance. They did not threaten the strategic object or any settlement near it.
At this time, pre-trial investigation bureau's investigators are studying the incident's circumstances and conducting urgent investigative actions.
The preliminary qualification of the offense is a violation of the rules for handling weapons, which caused the death of several people.
For reference:
In the northern region of Zhytomyr, an individual disregarded warning signage and drove into a terrain laden with explosives, leading to the abruption of his car and eventual death.
It should be noted that the Western-style robotic systems for demining will be manufactured in Ukraine.
Thus, in cooperation with the world leader, the Danish company Hydrema, the production of modern demining machines is localized in Ukraine.
