British intelligence reports critical situation of Russian troops in Bakhmut

The Russian Msta-S self-propelled artillery installation (SAU) is one of the main means of artillery in the forces of the invasion of Ukraine

In the Donetsk region, Ukraine's armed forces continue to carry out successful offensives near the city of Bakhmut. Reports suggest that the morale of the Russian military is low and that there might be insufficient reserves to maintain the problematic area.

The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reports this in a review as of July 8.

British analysts note that after the decline of active hostilities in Bakhmut in June, during the last seven days, the city "again became the site of some of the most intense fighting on the front."

Ukrainian troops "confidently advance" north and south of the city during the clashes.

"Russian defenders are highly likely struggling with poor morale, a mix of disparate units, and a limited ability to find and strike Ukrainian artillery," British intelligence emphasizes.

The review also indicates that Moscow apparently considers it "politically unacceptable" to surrender Bakhmut to Ukrainian forces. After all, this city has symbolic weight as one of the few achievements of the Russian forces during the last year of the war.

"However, there are highly likely (in Russia. – ed.) few additional reserves to commit to the sector", – states the intelligence of Britain.

For reference:

It should be noted that the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region became the site of one of the fiercest confrontations between the forces of Ukraine and Russia. This continued until, in May of this year, the Russian side announced the alleged capture of the city.

According to the estimates of Ukrainian and Western officials, the Russian Federation lost a significant amount of human resources during the offensive on Bakhmut – at least 60 thousand killed and wounded.

"The enemy is actually trapped in Bakhmut itself," explained Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar.

She asserted that our forces had impeded the enemy's maneuverability and effectively blocked their passage while both sides remain in persistent bombardment.

Serhiy Cherevaty, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of Ukraine's armed forces, said the Ukrainian military advanced more than a kilometer on the Bakhmut front over the last day.

Also our fighters also have partial success in the Klishchiivka area and are entrenched at the achieved boundaries.

In addition, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Tavria direction are systematically knocking out the Russians from their positions on the last day on this part of the front, the enemy invaders lost almost two companies killed and wounded.

As Rubryka wrote, on July 7, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated more than 600 invaders; since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the invaders lost more than 233,400 soldiers.
