A completely renewed facade of the art school, made with the funds of German benefactors, was presented in Bucha
On June 30, the Bucha City Council, together with the BGV Ukrainian Charity Fund representatives officially presented the renewed facade of the Bucha Children's Art School. The works were carried out as part of a charitable project on school renovation, financed by German donors – the non-profit organization #WeAreAllUkrainians and the help alliance fund from the Lufthansa Group.
The total financing of the project, which runs in several stages, reaches more than 10 million hryvnias. In addition to the facade renovation, as part of the second stage of cooperation, the benefactors also worked on the inclusiveness of the children's music institution and organized a number of trainings and educational courses for school teachers.
«We are sincerely grateful to our German and Ukrainian partners for our new Art School in Bucha. Now it is not only modern, well-equipped, but also inclusive. Such support during the war is really invaluable, because such projects bring children back home», — says Bucha's Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk.
In the future, German benefactors together with Ukrainian partners – the BGV Fund – will continue works on renovation and equipping of Bucha Children's School of Arts named after Levko Revutskyi. By the new academic year, in the art school also planning to equip art classes, purchase new furniture, television equipment for the educational process organization, as well as purchase a batch of musical instruments for the brass band among the art school's students.
As a reminder, in August 2022, the BGV Charity Fund and the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Bucha City Council signed a cooperation agreement, according to which the fund, together with German donors — non-profit organizations #WeAreAllUkrainians and help alliance — will restore the Bucha Children's School of Arts named after Levko Revutskyi.
As part of the first stage, at the beginning of 2023, the benefactors carried out comprehensive repairs at the school, which included the restoration of the roof, entrance group, water supply and drainage system, windows and doors replacement, installation of modern navigation elements in the facility, and also purchased a high-power generator for uninterrupted learning. The Foundations purchased and handed over equipment to teachers – 40 laptops, and also presented musical instruments to children – 7 modern electronic pianos, 4 guitars, 6 modern synthesizers, 2 cellos, 3 violins and an accordion. With the benefactors' funds, additional classrooms for music lessons were arranged to increase the number of children who will study at the school. In addition, the BGV Charity Fund, together with German donors, carried out a number of works for the arrangement of an inclusive space and the organization of an appropriate learning process on the basis of the Bucha School of Arts, in order to ensure barrier-free access to all types of classes for children with special educational needs. Also, as part of the project, 100 annual scholarships were paid for children to study at the Bucha Children's School of Arts with the benefactors' funds.
The cooperation between the Bucha Children's School of Arts, the BGV Charity Fund and German donors dates back to June 18, 2022, when, on the initiative of the help alliance and with the support of #WeAreAllUkrainians, the musical event «Concert For Tomorrow» took place in the Munich Philharmonic (Germany). It was a performance by the Munich Symphony Orchestra stars, which united together with Ukrainian musicians as part of a charity concert. Among Ukrainian artists were refugees fleeing to Germany because of the war in Ukraine. The concert at the Philharmonic demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine, support for Ukrainian talents, and also raised the initial amount of funds for the restoration of the Bucha Children's School of Arts. In August, thanks to the donations of passengers on their flights, the main sponsor of the initiative — the national air carrier of Germany, Lufthansa — joined the charity project.
