A powerful explosion rocked near the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield in Russia's southern Krasnodar region on July 2, according to the Russian Telegram channel Baza.

The explosion occurred near a local military airfield located a few hundred meters away. The field is used as a launcher for Iranian Shahed-136 drones.

According to media reports, the size of the crater is 10 meters in diameter and about 4 meters deep.

The Telegram channel 112 reports that a missile had previously fallen near a military airfield. Its origin is being established.

The local governor assures there were no casualties or injuries after the explosion. Houses and other buildings were allegedly not damaged.

Although the nearest Ukrainian positions are at least 250 kilometers away, Kremlin-controlled media have already claimed a Ukrainian missile allegedly caused the explosion.

In a recent air attack against Ukraine, Russia launched eight Shahed drones and three Kalibr cruise missiles overnight on July 2, according to the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces.

The military reported downing all of them.

Debris from the drones hit three residences in the Kyiv region, injuring a man, according to the regional military administration.
