Explosion near Russian military base rocks occupied Melitopol – mayor

On the evening of July 1, all of Melitopol, temporarily occupied by the Russian military, heard a loud explosion near the enemy's military base.

Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Melitopol, reported about this on the air of the telethon.

The head of the city emphasized that the hot summer continues for the occupiers.

"Yesterday (July 1 – ed.) at 7:30 p.m., a powerful explosion rang out in Melitopol, which residents heard in all city districts.

The explosion occurred in the north of the city near the village of Semenivka, where the enemy captured a farm, and one of the enemy's military bases was located there.

Yesterday, residents also saw the work of the enemy's anti-aircraft defense," Fedorov noted.

The head of Melitopol also said that the Russians installed a crematorium on the territory of the former Melitopol children's sanatorium where their soldiers are burned.

"One [crematorium -ed.] works 24 hours a day in Berdiansk port, the other on the territory of Melitopol's former children's sanatorium. The enemy set up a military hospital there long ago, but it is cheaper to burn than treat, " Fedorov emphasized.

He added that several districts of Melitopol "suffer from the stench of burnt Russian."

In turn, the General Staff confirmed that a mobile crematorium operates 24/7 on the territory of the Berdiansk port, where the bodies of Russian soldiers are burned.

About 50 bodies, recently brought from the areas of hostilities to the local morgue, are subject to cremation.

On June 22, more than eight explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region.
