Ukraine and Slovakia to jointly create Eva self-propelled howitzer
Ukraine signed an agreement with the Slovak defense company Konštrukta Defense to develop a conceptually new howitzer.
It will be based on the Slovak Zuzana self-propelled artillery system, according to the Denník publication.
However, the new system will not completely resemble the same Zuzana that the company produces. The arms maker plans to create a new howitzer called Eva. It will also use 155 mm ammunition but will have a number of conceptual differences.
The main idea is to adapt the new weapon to the requirements of the Ukrainian military.
The Ukrainian partner of the Slovak company is the Kramatorsk Heavy Engineering Plant. The companies have already signed a memorandum of cooperation and are going to implement the project in the near future.
Nothing is known about the exact parameters of the new self-propelled artillery system, but the published photo shows that the artillery part of the Eva is very similar to the Ukrainian Bohdana, and the chassis is made by the Czech company Tatra.
The Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Building Plant is known for being the manufacturer of the first ever Ukrainian self-propelled artillery system Bohdana. It has a caliber of 155 millimeters, which allows the use of NATO shells.
This howitzer took part in the liberation of Zmiiny Island in 2022 and many other operations.
At the moment, it works as a single model, but new Bohdana guns are already being manufactured at the facilities of the Ukrainian industry.
