US real estate company plans to build 600 modular homes in Ukraine
US Wasatch Group, in partnership with the To Ukraine With Love charity fund, plans to build 600 fully furnished modular homes in the Kyiv region in 2023-2024 for people whose homes were destroyed by the war.
Previously, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Dell Loy Hansen, American businessman and philanthropist, founder, and CEO of Wasatch Group real estate investment company.
What is the problem?
As of March 2023, nearly 150,000 houses were destroyed in Ukraine. In total, more than 27,000 objects were damaged during the Russian aggression in the Kyiv region alone.
The number of destroyed houses, educational, cultural, religious, etc. institutions is only growing day by day. The amount of damage that the aggressor country has inflicted on us since the beginning of the full-scale war has already reached hundreds of billions of dollars.
However, Ukrainians need housing now, especially with winter ahead.
What is the solution?
The philanthropist presented Zelensky with a project for a Hansen's Town apartment complex. The main idea is to create a large community for the elderly, war veterans, widows, orphans, and people with disabilities.
How does it work?
The project will include medical and emotional care centers, physiotherapy, art therapy, and other necessary services.
This town will be able to replace several family-type orphanages that were destroyed during the war. We know that more than 100 such institutions were destroyed, Hansen said.
He also spoke about an initiative to build residential homes for the elderly who have been left homeless in several regions of Ukraine.
