EU Maritime Safety Agency sends equipment to clean up polluted waters in Odesa region

The European Maritime Safety Agency sent Ukraine equipment to eliminate pollution in the waters of Ukrainian seaports, particularly in the Odesa region.

This is part of the EU's assistance to overcome the aftermath of the Kakhovka dam explosion.

What is the problem?

On the night of June 6, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.

Dozens of oil refineries, gas stations, thermal power plants, and various warehouses were flooded in the Kherson region due to the destruction, causing 150 tons of motor oil to leak into the water in the first days of the disaster.

What is the solution?

Within the framework of the "Maritime Safety, Security and Protection of the Marine Environment in the Black and Caspian Seas" project, the Odesa department of USPA received specialized environmental equipment from European colleagues," the statement said.

Due to the significant deterioration of the water condition in the Black Sea and the estuary, the beaches of Odesa were declared unfit for swimming.

In the Odesa region, Ukrainian border guards are recording the consequences of the Russian ecocide that occurred after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant destruction.

EcoRubryka posted a video of what the coast of the Odesa region looks like now. Household appliances, sofas, and gas cylinders are being thrown ashore.

Previously, the European Union sent Ukraine 500 generators from its reserves to overcome the consequences of the terrorists' explosion of the Kakhovka dam

In addition, Norway, Sweden, and Slovakia sent another aid package to the State Emergency Service, including motorized pumps and ATVs.
