Russian forces found 60 civilians dead in occupied flooded Kherson region over past two days – Ukraine's General Staff
The Russian invaders employed utility workers to clear the rubble and collect the flood victims after the Kakhovka dam explosion.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces.
"In connection with the outbreak of viral diseases, the occupiers were forced to take measures to stabilize the sanitary and epidemiological situation in a number of settlements of the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, which suffered from the explosion of the Kakhovka dam, the statement said.
Russian invaders used public utility workers to clear the rubble and find the flood victims. Over 60 bodies were found on June 24-25 alone.
To conceal the real number of victims, the Russian military command decided to bury the dead in mass graves without taking DNA samples or marking the gravesites.
On the night of June 6, Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, located a few kilometers from the temporarily occupied town of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region.
Ukraine's facility Ukrhydroenergo stated that the Kakhovka dam was completely destroyed and cannot be restored. The explosion caused thousands of settlements to drown, and hundreds of species to go extinct. The lack of water level shows a risk to the stable operation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
