The Lviv regional military administration said more than 1,300 internally displaced persons (IDPs) would be able to settle there, Rubryka reports.
What is the problem?
In May-June 2022, more than 600,000 IDPs lived in the Lviv region. Over 250,000 people are officially registered in the area, and 350-400,000 displaced people live unofficially.
"This year and last year were challenging, with many challenges we had to overcome together. One is the issue of IDPs and ensuring their decent living conditions. Thank you to the International Organization of Migration for the projects that have already been implemented," said the first deputy head of the Lviv regional military administration, Andrii Hodyk.
What is the solution?
The project started in 2020 in the Luhansk region. However, with the full-scale invasion, its implementation was transferred to the Lviv region.
How does it work?
Within the project's scope, three residential complexes will be built in Kamianka-Buzka and Drohobych communities. Housing renovation in the city of Stary Sambir will also be carried out.
It plans to create from 442 to 556 apartments, in which 1326 to 1668 resettlers can live.
"It is important that the project is designed not only to settle people but also to improve the conditions for their full integration into the socio-economic and cultural life of the communities of Lviv region. Therefore, we are already talking about social infrastructure, conditions for work, study, etc.," says the first deputy head of the Lviv region, Andrii Hodyk.
The Lviv and Luhansk regional military administrations will implement the project together with the International Organization for Migration.
